About Helen

Saltwater and ink undoubtedly run through Helen’s veins. Born on a big island - Australia, to parents from a remote Greek island, she has always lived by the sea. In Brisbane, Helen completed her university studies in journalism. A few years later, she relocated to Athens to explore the world. Helen has since earned her sailing permit, but nothing excites her more than yacht racing. A travel journalist, guidebook author and content marketing writer, Helen has cultivated insider Greece expertise over almost three decades. She leverages her knowledge of the country to bring to life stories on islands, coastal destinations, sailing, yachting, culture and lifestyle. Beyond the Mediterranean, Helen has sailed in Seychelles, dived in Indonesia and cruised in Latin America. Her work appears in Lonely Planet, National Geographic, Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveller, Robb Report, and more.

Fun Facts

Marina central
I live within walking distance of Athens’ main marinas, including charter base Alimos and superyacht-filled Flisvos.
Greek Island Goodness
The Greek islands are my playground, and I’ve visited over 49 of them, but there are plenty more on my list.
Favorite Port Town
With its cobblestoned streets and Venetian architecture, Corfu’s capital is one of my favorite places to dock.
Rum, reggae and racing
Racing aboard a 65-foot yacht and jamming to reggae artist Protoje at Antigua Sailing Week was mind-blowing fun.
