Meet the Bering 165: A 5-Deck Explorer Yacht With 5,000 Miles of Range
Bering’s largest explorer yet, designed to cross oceans in comfort and and 5,000 miles of range.
Bering Yachts has announced the sale of the first hull from its 165 Explorer series. At 164’ (50m), the Bering 165 is the shipyard’s flagship, purpose-built to “redefine what a true transoceanic superyacht can be.”
The Turkish shipyard made its move into superyachts during 2021 when they sold their first projects above 98’ and when they first noticed the growing demand and popularity for explorer yachts. Bering acknowledged this trend toward yachts that can go where others cannot and began to focus on its explorer range—the 165 has overtaken the 145 model, which was first delivered in 2022.
A Collaborative Project
Carrying a steel explorer DNA, the yard worked in a collaborative project with naval architecture and engineering, courtesy of Eureka Yachts and Swiss Studio Valentin Design for the sleek exterior lines.
The deal was signed with Aberton yachts, who were also responsible for the general arrangement and described the process as a careful balancing act: “We kept pushing boundaries, setting increasingly ambitious goals and finding smart solutions until we arrived at what we believe is one of the strongest explorer yachts in the sub-500GT class.”

Five Decks Of Space
Despite the length, the Bering 165 is said to feel much larger thanks to the five-deck layout. Offering five guest cabins alongside a dedicated owner’s deck that spans 755 square feet. The deck features a large ensuite cabin, walk-in wardrobe, study, and lounge, dumbwaiter service, and an aft terrace complete with a Jacuzzi and a lounging area.
The renderings showcase a modern aesthetic with ample space for dining, relaxation, and lounging. The yacht combines this indoor and outdoor living setup with an alfresco cinema with a fire pit, a sit-up bar, and a private crow’s nest lookout with 360-degree ocean views. There is also space for more than one tender, Jet Skis and toys on the aft.
Ocean-Ready For 2029
For performance, twin Caterpillar 1,300hp engines provide a 10-knot cruising speed and a 15-knot top speed, delivering a 5,000-nautical-mile range for ocean-crossing capability. A stabilization system also provides comfort.
A forward-thinking brief, the engine room is also said to have been designed to accommodate future hybrid or battery technologies.
Scheduled to hit the water in 2029, keep an eye out for this new level of Bering’s sub-500GT explorers—complete with style, comfort, and performance.
