Cruising the BVIs? This New Virgin Gorda Marina Should Be on Your Route

Experience Biras Marina & Resort on Virgin Gorda revitalized for superyachts.

After years of quiet following Hurricane Irma and Maria, Biras Creek on Virgin Gorda’s North Sound reopened its doors at the end of last year. Now, reimagined, it is the newest luxury destination for the superyacht community.

A redevelopment that signals a fresh chapter for one of the BVI’s most iconic cruising hubs, adding another superyacht option alongside the island’s celebrated Bitter End Yacht Club.

Purpose-Built For Superyachts

Biras Marina & Resort’s new incarnation has been tailored specifically to the superyacht sector. The marina is now able to accommodate yachts over 150’ (46m), thanks to a brand-new 363’ (111m) dock with a 20’ (6m) draft, which can host large yachts, while the 20 mooring balls are still available for smaller yachts, up to 60’ (18m).

The upgrades see marina facilities for captains, and crew, including electricity, fuel, Wi-Fi, and an array of dedicated guest services. Accessible only by yacht or helicopter, the site is served by an hourly shuttle to the Gun Creek ferry terminal, which improves on-land logistics for visitors. The marina is also offering seasonal availability, ideal for those yachts wanting to base themselves in the BVI’s for the Caribbean yacht charter season.

Shop ‘Til You Drop

For the first time in the BVIs, the redevelopment has introduced a high-end, multi-brand boutique at the marina. From globally recognized brands to statement gifts, this retail concept has improved the offerings beyond the practical. A luxury provisions shop offering curated European products will also launch soon—providing more convenience to yachts visiting.

Wining & Dining

Culinary offerings at Biras Marina & Resort match the marina’s luxury ambience and superyacht credentials. The Mangrove serves up Mediterranean farm-to-table fare, while Ikigai delivers a sophisticated Japanese-Caribbean omakase experience. For sundowners, a rooftop lounge bar overlooks the North Sound, while a boutique bakery caters to mornings and indulgences.

Caribbean Lifestyle

Beyond the marina, the Brias Creek development is shaping up to be a fully fledged lifestyle destination. A spa is currently under construction, complemented by a botanical garden, sports field facility, and a working farm. Luxury properties are also available for sale, while renderings show two, three, and four-bedroom villas available to rent, each designed to complement the natural surroundings and feature swimming pools and terraces.

By combining docking infrastructure, curated retail, high-end dining, and future on-land possibilities in this Caribbean hotspot, Biras Marina & Resort has positioned itself as the ultimate stop for the superyachts exploring the Virgin Islands.
