This 502-Foot Hybrid Yacht Concept From Gary Grant Aims To Hit 50 Knots
Gary Grant introduces 502-foot mega-yacht concept. Hybrid propulsion, lifestyle-led design, topping out at 50 knots.
US-based yacht design studio Gary Grant Design has unveiled a new 502-foot (153-metre) hybrid mega-yacht concept that aims to redefine “design, speed, and sustainability.” The concept positions itself as a bold vision for the future of a large private yacht with cutting-edge propulsion systems and a focus on experiential living.
Design Cues
True to Grant’s signature style and long-standing experience, the concept showcases a sculpted glass superstructure. While extensive floor-to-ceiling glazing blurs the inside and outside, creating a seamless flow across the multiple decks.
The main saloon is a standout feature, with headroom exceeding 17 feet (5.2 metres)–a generous volume even at this vast scale. The result is a light-filled space that enables openness and flow. Open-plan layouts and flexible social areas throughout are also central to the concept’s design. While the convertible beach club can transform into a protected lounge or waterside terrace.
As the designer states, the spaces can easily switch between entertainment, wellness, and privacy, highlighting the lifestyle-led design’s adaptability. While full details of the onboard amenities are yet to be divulged, the concept suggests a range of dedicated wellness zones alongside expansive leisure areas.

Hybrid, High Speed Capability
Most notably, the proposed yacht challenges conventional expectations for this size range and has been designed to reach eye-watering speeds of up to 50 knots, powered by a highly advanced hybrid propulsion system.
The setup combines Wärtsilä 31 engines, electric drives, and a large-scale energy storage system to power twin waterjets. In addition, twin Rolls-Royce MT30 gas turbines are proposed to drive a further two waterjets.
The yacht also features zero-emission capability, allowing for silent, battery-electric operation, and smart energy management systems are intended to optimize power and reduce overall environmental impact.
Future Visions
With a portfolio that includes projects all hailed for performance and aesthetics, such as Margaux, Adler II, Crazy Me, and Thermal Runaway, Grant introduces this latest concept as both an innovative new yacht platform and a statement of intent for a future where sustainable luxury and high-end performance can exist together at such huge scale.
