Yacht Of The Month: The 165’ Flagship That’s Rethinking What Lies Below The Waterline
Check out the new 165’ LMY 165 from Lazzara Yachts, featuring a patented sea chest system, expansive beach club, and contemporary design.
American shipyard Lazzara Yachts, part of Euro Marine Group, has released renderings for its newest flagship—the LMY 165. At 165’ (50m), this steel and aluminium motor yacht is for a prospective owner looking for purposeful innovation as much as a contemporary design.
With sporty and clean lines, the yacht’s contemporary profile represents a development in the builder’s motor yacht series. The use of extensive glazing serves both functional and aesthetic purposes, softening the sculptural form while also amplifying light inside.
Innovative Engineering
Perhaps the most defining feature of this new superyacht is its technical innovation. Lazzara has introduced a patented sea chest system. Developed under the leadership of Euro Marine Group’s President and CEO, George Chirakaza, the system integrates multiple seawater intakes into a single structural unit within the hull. Instead of relying on numerous hull penetrations below the waterline, the LMY 165 consolidates them into a single engineered solution.
The benefits of this are numerous; not only does it mean that with fewer openings below the water, the engineering systems can be streamlined, but it also improves maintenance access and the ability to carry out works while the yacht remains in the water. For prospective owners, this translates to reduced downtime, simplified serving, and potential lower long-term operating complexities.
A Connection To The Water
The LMY 165’s connection to the water is most evident on the aft, with fold-out terraces that expand the stern into a generously sized beach club, where a swimming pool is at sea level. Its layout is designed for lounging afternoons. On the upper deck, further lounging space wraps around a Jacuzzi, creating another retreat higher above the water but with panoramic sea views.
Accommodation is planned for 12 guests across six cabins, including a full beam owner’s suite. While interior rendering details are yet to be released, Lazzara describes a direction focused “not on extravagance, but scale, privacy and architectural coherence.” Importantly, prospective buyers can change the direction of interiors with customisation still available.

Performance And Positioning
Power for the LMY 165 will come from twin 1,400 hp engines, offered as either MAN or Caterpillar, delivering a top speed of around 15 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.
The LMY 165 now stands as the flagship of the Lazzara portfolio, following the brand’s previous largest project, the explorer style EX 165—a sub 500GT platform designed for unrestricted commercial classification and sold last year.
Below the new flagship, the smaller 125’ (38m) LMY 125 is currently in development and “coming soon,” providing accommodation for up to ten guests. Meanwhile, the Limited Edition LSX 67 continues to attract attention for its distinctive owner’s cabin and private terrace.
A Strategic Offering
The LMY 165 feels tailored to a potential buyer who values engineering integrity as much as the aesthetics and living spaces, someone who wants a 165’ platform that can evolve over time. It is thought to be equally suited to private ownership or charter with the 12-guest layout.
Perhaps most exciting for buyers is Lazzara Yachts’ offering a trade-in programme for its new yacht—an initiative that enables owners looking to smoothly transition to a larger or more technically advanced platform.
