Grand Slam Star Carlos Alcaraz Moves Into Yacht Ownership With Custom Sunreef Ultima 88
The Polish catamaran brand announced its next high-profile sporting client at PBIBS.
There is no slowdown from Sunreef Yachts in attracting this new wave of sporting clientele. Once a keen yacht charterer, Alcaraz has now moved into the world of ownership and has commissioned a fully bespoke Sunreef Ultima 88 from the Polish yard.
Coinciding with the opening of the 2026 Palm Beach International Boat Show (PBIBS), the announcement of the Spanish tennis player’s new purchase highlights a wider shift among sports stars, who are increasingly investing in yachts not just as status symbols but as lifestyle platforms for recovery, connection, and escape.

Centre Court To Open Water
Currently ranked world number one, Alcaraz is at the peak of his professional tennis career, and his playing style continues to spark conversation. But with such dynamism and behind the intensity and global schedule, there is a need for balance, something that time spent on board a yacht can readdress.
His choice of an 88’ (27m) catamaran currently in build speaks to this desire and priority of balance, and the need to unwind and recharge onboard. The Ultima 88 offers a flexible, lifestyle-driven platform that can switch between high-energy days and relaxation.

The Ultima 88
According to the yard, the Ultima line is “the world’s most technically advanced hybrid ecospeeder,” as well as “a perfect blend of speed, stability, and comfort.” And Alcaraz selected them for his yacht as he believes they are “true trendsetters.”
Combining the sleek silhouette of a monohull with the stability and interior volume of a multihull, the model is capable of reaching speeds of up to 26 knots, delivering performance without sacrificing comfort. Owners can opt for traditional propulsion or hybrid configurations—highlighting the yard’s focus on more sustainable solutions for their vessels.
Designed for an active lifestyle like Alcaraz’s, the yacht’s standout feature is its expansive Ocean Lounge aft with folding terraces, a swim platform, and a dedicated toy garage, putting watersports and playtime on the water at the fore.

A Floating Retreat
Alcaraz’s Sunreef catamaran will be fully customized, although specific details are yet to be revealed. While the standard Ultima 88 accommodates up to 10 guests across five cabins, his configuration is expected to prioritize space and privacy with four guest cabins and a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck.
The interiors will focus on light, openness, and comfort, with generous, carefully considered living spaces. Above, the flybridge will offer multiple lounging, socializing, and al fresco dining areas.
The Next-Generation Yacht Owner
The tennis star joins a growing roster of sporting figures and now Sunreef ambassadors drawn to the brand, including fellow Spanish tennis icon Rafael Nadal, Formula One champion Nico Rosberg, and, most recently, football star Robert Lewandowski. It was also announced at PBIBS that Alcaraz will serve as a brand ambassador, aiming to introduce Sunreef to others.
This emerging clientele shows a broader yachting trend—one driven by younger, high-performing individuals looking for flexibility, wellness, and experiential design over the traditional definitions of luxury.
As explained by Sunreef’s CEO, Francis Lapp, in a recent press release, these owners joining the “House of Sunreef” community are bringing “fresh energy” to the superyacht industry, reshaping expectations and redefining what modern yacht ownership looks like.
