A New UHNWI Travel Report Just Ranked the World’s Best Destinations — and It Reads Like a Charter Itinerary
The world’s most exclusive destinations are the same ones that the yachting world has championed for decades.
A new ultra-luxury travel trends report has mapped out where the world’s favorite celebrity and UHNWIs’ vacation hangouts are. And for those in the superyacht world, the list is extremely familiar with popular yacht charter locations, making their appearance.
The report ranked the destinations based on factors such as private aviation access, luxury hotel and villa rates, fine dining, and elite leisure options — and, unsurprisingly, many of the destinations from the French Riviera to the Maldives, that made the list, have long-standing ties to the global yachting circuits.

The Global Icons
Claiming the top spot on this list is the French Riviera. The Mediterranean region offers a mix of glamour, privacy, and convenience, complete with seamless infrastructure, so it is no wonder it featured so highly. Those who visit can hop easily between private jets, helicopters, luxury villas, and, of course, superyachts.
The French Riviera is a favorite among high-profile names, including Jeff Bezos and Elton John, and this year, with the filming of The White Lotus season 4 underway, its luxury and cultural relevance show no signs of slowing down.
In second place is the principality of Monaco. A tiny footprint but big impact, Monaco’s status is rooted firmly as one of the world’s greatest superyacht hubs, alongside luxury real estate, exclusive restaurants, designer shopping, and its Formula One heritage, which continues to draw business leaders, celebrities, and yacht owners from around the world.
The Classic Mediterranean Circuit
The rankings read almost as a tick list for a Mediterranean charter season. The Amalfi Coast — dramatic, historic and glamorous — ranked in the top five, drawing names including Graeme Hart and Jame Packer to its cliff-hugging luxury hotels and yacht-friendly waters. Capri, just offshore, also made the list (at number 10), an island small enough to feel exclusive and to justify the detour, and naturally suited to arrivals by yacht or helicopter.
Further west, Mallorca also made the list as a luxury hotspot. The Balearic Islands’ combination of mountain scenes, secluded coves, luxury marinas, and beach clubs has made it a favorite with Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos alike, and its status in the Mediterranean luxury yacht market continues to grow.

America’s Luxury Boltholes
Miami claimed third place and the top spot for America, and it’s easy to see why. Miami offers year-round sunshine, laid-back luxury, a thriving private aviation network, world-class art culture, and a huge real estate market. The culture of luxury travel here is built around waterfront residences, private members clubs, and a thriving social scene. Much of the wealth has migrated to Indian Creek Island, a small enclave known as “Billionaire Bunker” that houses some of the world’s most prominent business figures and celebrities.
Further north, another East Coast spot featured in the report was The Hamptons. New York’s seasonal retreat of choice has long revolved around private golf clubs, beach clubs, tennis, dinner parties, and charity galas that make up the social scene of a Hamptons summer, with individuals including Ken Griffin, Barry Rosenstein, and Leon Black visiting often. When it comes to yachting, the Hamptons regularly feature on charter itineraries throughout the summer and, in particular, provide a special base for celebratory July 4th fireworks.
Postcard-Perfect Escapes
Perhaps the most interesting trend emerging from the rankings is the growing importance of privacy, which has increasingly been hailed as the new luxury. Leading the Asian rankings, Bali highlights how luxury vacations are increasingly shifting towards secluded experiences. The Indonesian island has developed a luxury vacation model centered on private villas, luxury resorts, high-end wellness retreats, and cultural immersion. The Kardashians are among its most high-profile visitors. Indonesia is becoming more and more popular with the superyacht crowd, especially for those looking for lesser-visited cruising spots, plus this year, Bali has welcomed its first superyacht marina.
Similarly, the Maldives — also featuring on the list — is another of the world’s ultimate escape destinations. Private islands, overwater villas, seaplane transfers, and remote coral atolls, alongside its yacht-friendly island-hopping itineraries, continue to attract celebrity families such as the Beckhams and Ramsays.
Cooler Climes
As the only winter destination making the list, Courchevel in France has its well-earned place. The renowned French alpine resort has long operated with luxury at the fore with Michelin-starred restaurants, luxury chalets, and designer boutiques. For those who divide their year between Mediterranean yachting summers and alpine winters, it is the perfect spot.

The Luxury Of Access
While the rankings may have been designed to identify celebrity travel hotspots, they ultimately show something the yachting world has always understood. And that is the world’s best destinations are those experienced from the water. The scenery more dramatic, access more discreet and the freedom to come and go on your own terms, where few can reach, is exactly what defines luxury today.
