UberBoats Makes Mediterranean Yachting More Accessible Than Ever

This summer, the ride-sharing app Uber has launched its new service that allows travelers to book skippered boat experiences directly through the Uber app. UberBoats is being rolled out ahead of the peak Mediterranean summer season, the service highlights the company’s move to tap into the growing appetite for on-the-water experiences across Europe. 

A Different Kind Of Uber Ride 

Unlike London’s UberBoat by Thames Clippers, which operates as a commuter ferry service on the River Thames, UberBoats is focused on leisure. Think beach hopping, sunset cruising, watersports, and exploring coves and bays along Mediterranean coastlines. 

The service is launching across coastal cities across the region, giving those who want a day on the water an easy way to do so. And no boating experience is required. Every UberBoat booking includes a professional skipper, allowing users to enjoy the experience without needing a license or prior boating knowledge.

Backed By A Large Fleet

The service is being delivered through a partnership with Click&Boat, one of Europe’s largest boat rental platforms. Through this, Uber users gain access to a fleet of over 50,000 vessels, ranging from small leisure boats to larger charter yachts suitable for full-day coastal exploring. 

Bookings are made through the Uber app, creating a familiar, easy, and smooth process for those who may never have considered chartering a boat before. 

Commitment-Free Charter Experiences

The launch shines a light on a broader trend in yachting and travel: the growing demand for flexible, experience-led adventures. Younger travelers in particular are looking for unique ways to explore destinations, those that feel more personalized and immersive, and far from those crowded hotspots and traditional sightseeing. 

UberBoats offers a lower-commitment entry point into the boating world and allows users to sample the yachting lifestyle without the planning costs associated with a full yacht charter. The rollout of the service will begin in Spain and its Balearic Islands before expanding across Portugal, Italy, France, and Croatia. 

Opening Up The Mediterranean By Sea

By placing boating experiences inside an app already used by millions, Uber is helping bring charter-style experiences into the mainstream. Uber One members will also receive 10% cashback credits on bookings, adding further incentive ahead of a busy summer season. 

Whether a sunset cruise off Ibiza, a day exploring Croatia’s islands, or a coastal adventure in Italy, Uber is hoping to open up the Mediterranean to even more this summer.
