Bigger, Bolder, Greener: Inside the Superyachts Set to Steal the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show

The superyacht market is having a big year. More than €4 billion worth of yachts changed hands during the first half of 2026, while a new generation of superyachts is preparing to make its debut at the Monaco Yacht Show later this month.

According to BoatPro, Boat International’s specialist market-intelligence platform, 281 yachts measuring 24 meters or more were sold between January and June, with a combined last-known asking value of €4.05 billion.

That represents a rise from €3.61 billion during the same period in 2025 and €2.21 billion in 2024. The number of transactions has also continued to climb, from 225 in the first half of 2024 to 272 in 2025 and 281 this year. And while the figures tell us that buyers are still spending, the yachts being sold — and those arriving in Monaco — tell an even more interesting story.

Buyers Are Going Bigger

One of the clearest trends emerging from the first half of the year is a growing appetite for larger yachts. Sales of yachts between 50 and 70 meters increased by 52.9% year-on-year, rising from 17 transactions in the first half of 2025 to 26 this year. Sales in the 40-to-50-meter bracket also grew by 10%, while the 30-to-40-meter sector declined by 6%.

The average asking value of yachts sold reached €14.4 million, up from €13.28 million in 2025 and just €9.83 million in 2024. At the top end, the 100.7-meter Feadship Moonrise led the market. Sold shortly before the end of June with a last-known asking price of €325 million, the yacht was brokered by Burgess in less than six months.

Other major deals included the 89-meter Amels Mirage at an estimated €165 million, the 66.3-meter Hampshire at €85 million and the 61-meter Jubilee at €73.5 million.

The figures are based on the yachts’ last-known asking prices, rather than final transaction values, which are generally confidential.

Monaco Is Getting Bigger, Too

The shift towards larger yachts will be particularly visible at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. The 35th edition of the show, running this year from 23 to 26 September, is expected to feature around 120 yachts in the water, including almost 45 recently delivered vessels.

Among them are several significant launches that reflect the direction of the wider market. At 102.4 meters, Lürssen’s Nixie will be one of the largest yachts in the harbor, with wellness taking center stage. Its expansive beach club includes a 144-square-meter gym, a cryotherapy chamber, a steam shower, and multiple terraces.

Meanwhile, 76-meter Turquoise Yachts N2H takes a different approach to scale, focusing on intimate spaces designed around family and friends rather than simply creating ever-larger open-plan rooms.

Bigger Doesn’t Equal More Traditional

The Monaco premieres also demonstrate how much the definition of a superyacht is changing.

The 67-meter Benetti Dagger features the shipyard’s Oasis Deck concept, complete with an infinity pool and fold-down sides, while waste heat from the generators is used to heat the pool water.

At the other end of the spectrum, the 42-meter GX42 is making its debut as GX Superyachts enters the large-yacht market. Its hybrid propulsion system and solar array, capable of producing up to 27kW, are designed to allow electric cruising for shorter distances, with the builder quoting up to 100 nautical miles at 6 knots in electric mode.

The 100-foot Sunreef 100 Eco is pushing the same conversation further, combining electric propulsion and batteries with solar panels integrated across its hull, superstructure and bimini.

Adventure On The Agenda

It is not all about size and technology, either. Mengi Yay’s 53.5-meter Gray Wolf has been built for an owner who wants to cruise from the Mediterranean to more challenging destinations, with RINA Ice Class standards and a claimed range of 6,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.

The yacht is part of a wider move towards more versatile vessels capable of traveling farther, staying away longer, and offering owners greater freedom in where they cruise.

At Monaco, that trend will extend beyond the main yacht displays. The show’s Adventure Area will feature 15- to 17-meter tenders in the water, with on-water demonstrations that give buyers the chance to see some of the latest equipment in action.

The Blue Wake Zone will also bring together yachts, charter vessels and concepts with independently assessed approaches to reducing environmental impact.

How Does The 2026 Monaco Yacht Show Look For Buyers?

With 71 of the 116 yachts examined in BoatPro’s preliminary Monaco fleet report listed for sale, the show arrives at an interesting moment for the brokerage market. The first half of 2026 suggests buyers are willing to spend — but they are also looking for more from their yachts. 

Bigger volumes are being combined with more flexible layouts, extensive outdoor spaces, serious wellness facilities, longer-range capability and increasingly sophisticated energy technology.

And with €4.05 billion already recorded in the first six months of the year, there is plenty of reason to expect Monaco to be a busy few days for the brokerage market. The question now is whether the second half of 2026 can match — or even beat — the pace set so far.
