Corfu’s Biggest Marina Just Had an €8.5 Million Makeover — Here’s What’s New
Corfu’s Gouvia Marina has had an €8.5 million makeover ahead of Mediterranean yacht season, with new superyacht berths and smart technology.
The marina group D-Marin has completed a significant upgrade and redevelopment of its Gouvia Marina—the largest on the Ionian island, raising the bar in time for the Mediterranean yacht charter season.
The project goes further than simple refurbishment. Backed by an €8.5 million investment supported through Greece’s “Greece 2.0” national recovery plan and European Union funding, it signals a wider push to modernize Greek marinas, focusing on expanded capacity, modernized operations, and efficiency.
Expanded Capacity
A standout part of the redevelopment is the significant expansion and clear sign that D-Marin is targeting superyachts and large cruising yachts, with 104 new berths accommodating yachts of up to 164’ (50m). Alongside the increased berthing capacity, an additional 64,583 square feet (6,000 sqm) of dry storage space has been introduced, offering yachts flexible, year-round infrastructure.
On land, the marina has also been reimagined for flow and access. The marina’s waterfront is now fully pedestrianized, the internal road network resurfaced, and shower facilities renovated—all changes that enhance the quality of the marina experience, a key element for standing out in the competitive landscape of Mediterranean marinas.
Smart Infrastructure
Gouvia Marina has also been brought into the digital age thanks to D-Marins’ forward-thinking approach. Smart Pedestals have been installed at every berth, enabling remote management of utilities through the D-Marin App and providing captains and owners with real-time oversight of consumption data. And across the marina, the WiFi coverage has also been improved.

Greener Credentials
Increasingly important in marina development today is ESG, which D-Marin takes seriously. The Gouvia upgrade has also introduced high-pressure water filtration systems, advanced fire detection, emergency alarms, and low-energy LED lighting. While electric vehicle charging stations have been put in place, accessibility improvements have been made to ensure the marina is inclusive and efficient.
Notably, Gouvia has become the site of D-Marin’s first onshore solar installation in Greece. The system is projected to generate enough clean electricity annually to cover 20% of the marina’s total power demand. On a broader level, this will be a meaningful contribution to the group’s ambition to reduce emissions by 42% by 2030.
Community Ties
The redevelopment has also considered the marina’s commitment to the community and the surrounding landscape. Over 2,000 new trees and plants have been introduced as part of a landscaping program.
A newly developed playground and purpose-built amphitheater have been added to the public spaces, designed to host social and cultural events and highlighting the marina’s cultural and economic importance to the island.
This makeover for Gouvia Marina reinforces its status as a key yachting spot within the Ionian cruising circuit. For those considering a Greek yacht charter itinerary this summer, Corfu now stands out not only for iconic island-hopping routes but also for the improved standards of facilities supporting those visiting by yacht.
