Beyond Monaco: The Rising Yacht Destinations Charter Experts Are Watching in 2026

These are the hottest yacht destinations of 2026. From the Costa Brava, Mallorca Rovinj, and Virgin Gorda—here's where billionaires go next.

While you can’t argue with the allure of Monaco or Saint-Tropez, these popular yachting stops may feel overwhelming at times. Sometimes it’s much more interesting to discover a new, uncharted destination where sailing feels refreshingly fabulous. The recipe for this is well-known: you need a superb marina, a wide choice of attractions, good infrastructure, and a selection of luxury things to do. These are the hottest yacht destinations of 2026, selected precisely by that logic – and featuring expert insights from leading yacht charter specialists and luxury travel advisors.

From the Costa Brava stunner Empuriabrava to the rainforest adventures in Martinique, Mallorca charms in Portals Nous, the timeless romance of Rovinj, and pristine beaches of Virgin Gorda—here’s where billionaires go next.

Empuriabrava, Spain

Best for unique marina infrastructure and stunning coast

Empuriabrava is unlike any other Spanish town. It’s a luxurious resort purposely built for yachting. Set in the heart of Costa Brava, north of Barcelona, the town is home to a Venice-like network of canals that serve as “streets” for vessels. There are many resorts and villas to choose from if you’re into a sophisticated stay. Empuriabrava is also a gateway to the spectacular Alt Empordà region. Platja de Empuriabrava is a wide, golden-sand stretch, ideal for families with young kids. You can sail to the gorgeous coves like Platja de l’Almadrava, Platja de Montjoi, and Platja del Canadell, and enjoy the wild beauty of Cap Norfeu. Another thrilling excursion is a cruise to Cadaqués, one of Spain’s most atmospheric seaside towns, famous for the Salvador Dalí House Museum. If you fancy something more extreme, Empuriabrava is also a serious skydiving center, offering beginner lessons, tandem jumps, and wind tunnel experience.

Labuan Bajo, Indonesia

Best for Komodo National Park excursions and island-hopping

The small fishing town of Labuan Bajo is quickly turning into one of Indonesia’s sailing centers. Most luxury charters to the Komodo National Park begin here, and it’s home to Komodo International Airport. There are just so many incredible places to visit on a yacht here. The national park where Komodo dragons roam is the first must-do. Being on a yacht will guarantee you an exclusive experience and take you to the boat-only beaches and coves, including the mesmerizing Pink Beach. But then, there are over 120 islands in the Komodo district, so you have an immense choice of where to sail. Padar Island, south of Komodo, is an exceptional snorkeling and scuba diving destination. Loh Buaya ranger station, on Rinca, is a less crowded place to meet the Komodo dragons. Pristine waters and colorful reefs await you at Kanawa Island. What’s most important is that the superyacht charters are already there.

“Indonesia’s Komodo National Park is a cinematic spectacle of rugged volcanic hills and private beaches,” says Frances Edgeworth, Charter Broker at Fraser Yachts. “Hike Padar Island at dawn for breathtaking views, then dive at Manta Point or Batu Bolong.” Philip, Founder of Navélia Yacht Charters, which operates in both Indonesia and the South of France, agrees: “Infrastructure has improved significantly, so you’re not sacrificing comfort for authenticity anymore. That combination is what’s drawing high-net-worth clients who’ve already done the Mediterranean circuit.”

Portals Nous, Mallorca, Spain

Best for an inspiring Mallorcan retreat

Portals Nous is all about quiet luxury. Its marina, Puerto Portals, has modern amenities and a stylish look. It accommodates yachts up to 60 meters and features a wide selection of restaurants, boutiques, and cafes. Two excellent turquoise bays are right beside the marina—the Portals Nous Beach and La Caleta. The ultra-luxurious Portals Hills Boutique Hotel and St Regis Mardavall are perfect for a forget-it-all unwind with superb spa facilities.

“Destinations like Portals Nous are becoming increasingly attractive because they combine high-end marina infrastructure with easy access to authentic Mediterranean cruising, hidden coves, and a more relaxed atmosphere compared to larger yachting hubs,” says Carlos Carapato, Captain and Owner at Caballo Blanco Charter.

It’s an ideal yachting destination for those who prefer comfortable marina leisure. That doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy breathtaking cruises—Portals Nous is perfect for exploring Mallorca’s Southwest Coast. Discover the historic center of Palma de Mallorca, stop to swim at the divine Caló d’en Monjo and Cala des Mago, admire the charming harbor of Port d’Andratx, and hike in the untouched Sa Dragonera Natural Park.

Martinique

Best for breathtaking volcanic landscapes and black sand beaches

Martinique, a French overseas territory and one of the Lesser Antilles, is a treat for your senses. There’s everything you need for an unforgettable Caribbean yachting holiday and more. Sail to magnificent white-sand bays like Grande Anse des Salines and Anse Mitan. There are also the incredible Anse Couleuvre and Anse Noire, the island’s iconic black stretches of volcanic ash. Anse Dufour is a sheltered cove and a breeding ground for sea turtles. Martinique is all about admiring the lush Caribbean nature, and hiking trails through the rainforest of Martinique Natural Regional Park are perfect for that. Scuba fans will love Ilet la Perle, the top-tier reef diving site, where you meet over 60 fish species. Another local specialty is rum, and you can taste the drink on exclusive tours through Martinique’s distilleries.

Ventimiglia, Italy

Best for Italian Riviera charms and hassle-free Monaco mooring

Inaugurated in 2021, Marina di Cala del Forte is quite symbolic for European yachting. Territorially, it’s in Italy. But it’s also the third official marina of Monaco, fully owned by the Monaco Ports subsidiary. Mooring here, you’re getting the same excellent infrastructure as in Port Hercules or Fontvieille (the Principality’s famous ports), minus the hassle.

“Ventimiglia gives yacht owners and charter guests easy access to Monaco without the congestion, berth shortages, and sky-high pricing,” says Andrew Satkowiak of The Luxury Travel Agency. “You also get excellent cruising access to Monaco, Cap Ferrat, Sanremo, and Portofino, with a longer season and less of a ‘scene.'”

As a bonus, you can explore the dramatic perched Old Town of Ventimiglia, full of Italian Riviera vibes and plenty of atmospheric ristoranti serving Ligurian cuisine and Italian classics like pizza and pasta. Monaco, with its world-famous Casino de Monte-Carlo, historic hilltop quarter, and Michelin-starred restaurants, is only 7.9 nautical miles (or about 15 minutes) away. Ventimiglia is an equally perfect yachting base for trips to the charming French Riviera destinations, such as colorful Menton, the hidden coves of Cap Martin, stunning Mala Beach, and elegant Beaulieu-sur-Mer.

Piran-Portorož, Slovenia

Best for the picturesque Old Towns and unparalleled natural attractions

Just 28 miles long, the Slovene Riviera is still a very much lesser-known corner of the Adriatic. Yachting here gets you to magnificent historic towns, exclusive restaurants, and pretty beaches. Portorož, the Slovenian answer to Monaco and Cannes, is where you find a luxurious marina, a Belle Époque casino, plenty of five-star hotels, and a creative COB restaurant (1 Michelin star). Then there’s Piran, a photogenic gem of a town, where the historic quarter “pierces” into the blue Adriatic waters. Similar to Dubrovnik, it offers epic walls to conquer for the views. Mesečev Zaliv and Bele Skale are two beautiful beaches to sail to for cliff panoramas and clear waters. Izola is a charming fishing town with hearty traditional tavernas serving local seafood. Less than an hour away from the coast are the mesmerizing Skocjan Caves, a UNESCO-listed complex of karst caves with dramatic underground waterfalls, lakes, and rivers.

Vilamoura, Portugal

Best for the stunning Atlantic coast

Freshly unveiled Nova Marina has put Vilamoura on the luxury yachting map. While the Algarve region on the south coast of Portugal has always been a breathtaking destination, the new modern port has made it much easier to enjoy the Atlantic coast on a superyacht. Vilamoura alone is a great place for a vacation. You’ve got the golden-sand beaches, Praia de Vilamoura and Praia da Rocha Baixinha, the Cerro da Vila ruins of an ancient Roman town, world-class golf courses, and a wide choice of five-star resorts. Families will love the Aquashow Waterpark and Family Golf Park in town. The beaches are also perfect for trying out your water toys and going jet skiing. Vilamoura is strategically positioned for yacht cruises to all the wonders of the Algarve, such as the vibrant Albufeira, the picture-perfect Benagil Cave, the sea caves and coves of the Carvoeiro coast, and the walled town of Lagos.

Virgin Gorda, BVI

Best for snorkeling and hiking

You can’t go wrong with embarking on a yachting charter in Virgin Gorda. One of the most spectacular and untouched of the British Virgin Islands, it’s a Caribbean destination of divine white-sand bays. Moreover, the 2025 transformation of the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour made it perfect for superyachts. That’s why there are no reasons not to sail to the island’s gorgeous beaches. The Baths is the most magical one, a turquoise bay with large boulders where snorkeling is amazing. The Devil’s Bay National Park next door is a scenic hiking area with killer sea views. Other picture-perfect beaches are Savannah Bay, Mountain Trunk, and Pond Bay. Gorda Peak National Park is the island’s top hiking area for jungle trails and magnificent lookouts.

“Virgin Gorda still feels authentic and naturally preserved,” says Raul Bermudez, Vice President of MarineMax Vacations, which charters exclusively in the BVI. “North Sound has quickly evolved into a premier yachting hub with upscale marina facilities, resorts, beach clubs, and waterfront dining.”

Rapallo, Italy

Best for Ligurian Coast base

Portofino is a one-of-a-kind harbor for superyachts, but it is very limited. The town gets overcrowded with tourists during the high season, leaving yacht enthusiasts without privacy and tranquility. Rapallo, with its brand-new superyacht-friendly Porto Carlo Riva marina, is a fantastic alternative. Just 3 nautical miles from Portofino, it’s a perfect base for exploring the stunning Ligurian Coast. The town itself is a seaside gem—it charms you with the gorgeous promenade, the villa-dotted hills, the beautiful Old Town with trompe l’oeil houses, and a kaleidoscope of grand hotels. You’re minutes away from other Ligurian showstoppers like Santa Margherita Ligure, the emerald Paraggi beach, and the breathtaking Abbazia di San Fruttuoso. Rapallo is also home to the Funivia Montallegro Stazione a Valle, an uber-scenic cable car to the Baroque Revival Santuario Basilica di Nostra Signora di Montallegro church.

Rovinj, Croatia

Best for romance and dining

Surprising your loved one with a yacht trip? Rovinj is a top choice for a romantic journey. Located in the heart of the Istria peninsula, this town is both a premier superyacht destination—the local ACI marina Rovinj accommodates yachts of up to 100 meters—and a postcard-perfect historic town. It marvelously rises from the calm Adriatic waters, beckoning you with narrow cobblestone streets, centuries-old Venetian houses, and a dramatic hilltop church. But the awe doesn’t stop there. Rovinj is known for its Golden Cape, a lush park where you can moor at beautiful coves. There are over 15 small uninhabited islands, mere 500 meters off the shore, to find tranquility among the pine trees. On land, you can embark on a truffle hunting and tasting excursion, as Istria is one of Europe’s finest truffle regions. Moreover, Rovinj hosts three Michelin-starred restaurants (two are right at the ACI marina).

“For luxury charter clients in 2026, the combination of exclusivity, calm navigable waters, and accessibility from major European hubs makes Istria one of the most compelling emerging yacht destinations in the Mediterranean.” Geoff McCabe, Travel Expert and Co-Owner of Anamaya Resort & Retreat Center, points to a standout insider experience: “Find the secret coves and anchorages just outside of the old town, where you can swim in pristine waters and dine on local seafood — these experiences feel far more intimate than the larger Adriatic charter circuits.”
